What DIY cannot fix reliably is post alignment and depth. CWS posts must be plumb within 1/4 inch over 6 feet and set in a consistent concrete footing with a crowned top for water runoff. Campbell’s expansive clay soils will push a post out of plumb within one season if the footing diameter is wrong or the backfill is uncompacted.

We do not recommend DIY full-section replacement. The rail-to-picket connection in CWS systems requires a specific insertion angle and a dead-blow mallet technique; done wrong, the picket tabs shear and the component is ruined.
