Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Campbell Owner’s Guide

Cover kitchen cabinets and components installed in Campbell homes typically run $14,000-$45,000 for a full remodel, with partial updates starting lower depending on scope. We stock Cover-compatible hardware, drawer systems, and door fronts, and we carry common replacement parts on our trucks for Campbell service calls. Most Cover kitchen issues we see in Campbell trace back to hinge fatigue, drawer slide wear, or water damage near the sink base - problems that start small and spread to the cabinet box if they’re ignored.

Homeowners usually notice the problem when a door won’t stay closed, a drawer starts binding, or they spot swelling at the sink cabinet floor. In Campbell’s climate, where winter moisture and summer dryness cycle through older homes near the Pruneyard area, laminate separation and hinge corrosion show up faster than in drier inland markets.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover manufactures several cabinet lines, and the replacement approach differs by series. The Cover Classic and Cover Select lines use a 35mm cup hinge with a 110-degree opening angle - the most common failure point we replace in Campbell. The Cover Pro series upgrades to soft-close hinges with a different mounting plate pattern, so the hardware is not interchangeable. If you’re unsure which line you have, check the inside edge of the door or the drawer box for a stamped model code; Cover also printed a small SKU label on the back panel of cabinets produced after 2018.

We source OEM Cover hardware direct from the distributor, but we also stock Blum and Salice aftermarket equivalents that match the spec and often outlast the original hinge. For drawer slides, the Cover OEM is typically a 22-inch full-extension side-mount, but we’ve found that KV and Accuride slides fit the same hole pattern and carry a heavier load rating. The decision between OEM and aftermarket comes down to warranty alignment: if your cabinets are still under Cover’s original warranty, we use OEM parts to preserve coverage. If not, the aftermarket equivalent usually costs 20-30% less and performs the same.

One compatibility gotcha in Campbell: Cover cabinets installed during the 2015-2019 building boom in neighborhoods like West Campbell and the Cambrian border area sometimes used a proprietary hinge bore pattern that doesn’t match the standard 45mm center-to-edge dimension. We measure before ordering. Every time.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
  • Doors that won’t stay closed or hang uneven. The 35mm cup hinge develops play in the nylon bushing after roughly 7-10 years of daily use in Campbell’s climate. Once the hinge cup loosens in the bored hole, the door drops and the magnetic catch can’t pull it shut.
  • Drawers that bind, sag, or need a lift to close. Full-extension ball-bearing slides collect grease and drywall dust, then the ball retainer cracks. In Campbell’s older ranch homes near Campbell Avenue, we’ve seen drawers overloaded with cast-iron cookware fail the slide in under five years.
  • Soft-close mechanism that slams or quits working. The hydraulic cylinder inside the hinge arm loses fluid slowly. It doesn’t fail all at once - first the close speeds up, then the damping disappears entirely.
  • Swelling or discoloration at the sink base cabinet floor. Cover’s standard sink base uses a particleboard floor with a melamine face. When the caulking at the sink rim degrades, water follows the supply lines down and pools where you can’t see it. By the time the floor feels soft, the substrate is compromised.
  • Laminate peeling or delaminating at door edges. Heat from a toaster oven or steam from a kettle accelerates the separation. In south-facing Campbell kitchens, UV exposure through unshaded windows can also bleach and brittle the laminate surface over time.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Cover kitchen component replacement in Campbell, here’s how pricing breaks down:

Service Price Range
Cabinet Installation (full kitchen) $4,000-$13,000
Countertop Installation $2,000-$6,500
Backsplash Installation $800-$2,500
Kitchen Island Installation $3,000-$10,000
Full Kitchen Remodel $14,000-$45,000
Small Kitchen Remodel $9,000-$20,000

What drives the range: cabinet count, material grade, and whether we’re working around existing flooring or replacing it. A hinge-and-slide refresh on 20 doors and 8 drawers runs toward the lower end of the parts scale. A full gut with Cover-compatible cabinetry, Cambria or Silestone countertops, and reconfigured lighting lands at the upper end.

Every quote we write in Campbell includes the parts, labor, disposal, and a written warranty. Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, that price is fixed before we start. No change order gets signed without your initials, and no work proceeds on a change until it is. That’s how we’ve kept 4,000-plus projects within a few percent of the agreed number since 2007.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground for Cover cabinet owners. You can check the hinge model number, measure the slide length, and verify whether the door is hanging on a standard 35mm cup - that’s information we can use when you call. What we don’t recommend: boring new hinge cups with a handheld drill (the depth tolerance is 13.5mm, and a slip ruins the door), or attempting to level a run of base cabinets without a laser and shims. Misaligned cabinets stress every component downstream.

Water damage at the sink base is another call-us situation. The repair involves removing the cabinet, inspecting the subfloor, and rebuilding with proper sealing - not a weekend project. If you’re seeing swelling, the damage is already deeper than the surface.

We’re an independent service provider - not affiliated with Cover - and we carry common Cover-compatible hardware on our trucks. Call (831) 704-1211 and we’ll schedule a free estimate. We’ll measure, photograph the condition, and deliver a written price before any work starts.
