The critical compatibility gotcha is slide length versus box depth. Ameristar Classic used 18-inch and 21-inch undermount slides almost exclusively, but ProLine switched to 22-inch full-extension soft-close slides after 2009. Installing a 21-inch slide in a ProLine box leaves a two-inch dead zone at full extension that catches on the face frame. We measure on site with a tape and a flashlight; the stamp helps, but the physical dimension determines the replacement.

For OEM versus aftermarket, Ameristar OEM hardware is largely discontinued through traditional channels. We source equivalent-grade slides from Blum and Salice that match the load rating and hole pattern, and we document the substitution in your written scope. Signs Your Ameristar Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

• Drawers stick or bind halfway open. The polymer glide wheels in Ameristar Classic slides degrade in Campbell’s dry heat, flat-spotting after six to eight years. What feels like a warped drawer is usually a wheel that no longer rolls; the box itself is often square.
• Soft-close hinges slam shut or close unevenly. Ameristar ProLine used a hydraulic cylinder hinge that loses silicone fluid over time. One hinge fails first, so the door torques on the remaining cylinder and eventually strips the wood-screw mounting holes.
• Sink base cabinet floor is spongy or discolored. The particleboard substrate Ameristar used in Builder’s Grade swells with repeated water exposure, common in Campbell homes where the original plumber didn’t seal the faucet escutcheon. The hardware mounts fine; the box can’t hold it.
• Corner cabinet lazy Susan catches or derails. Ameristar’s kidney-shaped trays used a polymer bushing that cracks under load, especially with heavy countertop appliances stored below. The bushing costs $12; replacing it requires disassembling the entire shelf stack.
• Drawer fronts separate from the box at the joint. Ameristar Classic drawer boxes were stapled particleboard with a melamine face. The staple legs rust in the humid air near dishwashers, then the joint opens. Re-stapling fails; the substrate is compromised.

There’s a safe middle ground. A homeowner can check the model stamp, measure slide length with a tape measure, and photograph a failing hinge for us to spec against. Ameristar used at least three different hinge bore patterns, and the wrong screw spacing strips the mounting hole in the cabinet face frame.
