Master Halco Driveway & Pavers: The Campbell Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Master Halco-compatible driveway and paver components in Campbell, with most replacement parts available same-day and installed pricing starting around $250 for sealing repairs and running to $1,800 for full section rebuilds. A typical Master Halco paver edge restraint or drainage channel replacement runs $400-$900 installed, depending on linear footage and whether the bedding layer has shifted. Most Campbell homeowners discover the problem when they notice pavers rocking underfoot after rain, or when the edge course starts migrating into the lawn - both signs that the interlock system has failed.

Which Master Halco Models This Applies To

Master Halco’s driveway and paver line breaks into three families: the Perma-Edge aluminum edging systems (PE-40, PE-60, PE-80 series, distinguished by stake height), the Pro-Lite plastic restraint line (PL-3 through PL-8, with the number indicating stake depth in inches), and the Channel-Drain modular runoff systems (CD-100 and CD-200, with the 200 series handling higher flow rates). The part number is stamped on the back face of aluminum edging and molded into the underside of plastic components; if it’s weathered off, measure stake height and channel width with a tape measure and we’ll cross-reference.

We carry OEM Master Halco parts and two aftermarket equivalents: Dimex EasyFlex for the plastic line, which matches the PL series stake pattern but uses a slightly softer PVC blend that we don’t recommend within 15 feet of direct afternoon sun on south-facing Campbell driveways, and Sure-Lok aluminum edging that interchanges with PE series but carries a 12-gauge rather than 14-gauge wall thickness. The OEM part costs 15-20% more; for a 40-linear-foot driveway edge, that difference is usually $60-$90 in material. We quote both and explain which we’d use on our own property.

Signs Your Master Halco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Signs Your Master Halco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
  • Pavers rock or tilt after rain. This means the bedding sand has washed out from beneath the interlock, usually because the edge restraint has pulled up or the Channel-Drain grate has clogged and water is undermining the base. In Campbell, where clay-heavy soil holds water against the subgrade, this accelerates once it starts.
  • The edge course is migrating into the lawn or planter bed. The Perma-Edge or Pro-Lite stakes have corroded or pulled free; aluminum stakes oxidize slowly in our soil, but the 8-inch stakes in the PE-80 series can lever out if the base was compacted to less than 95% standard Proctor density.
  • Standing water on the paver surface that wasn’t there last season. The Channel-Drain system has silted up or the outlet pipe has collapsed. We see this frequently in Campbell’s older neighborhoods near the Pruneyard, where original 1980s drainage was often undersized for modern impervious coverage.
  • Efflorescence blooming in a distinct line pattern. White mineral deposits tracking along specific paver courses indicate water is moving through a failed joint sand barrier, often because the edge restraint gap has allowed wash-in of foreign material that breaks the interlock seal.
  • Pavers sound hollow when tapped with a rubber mallet. The bedding layer has segregated or the base course has settled; this is past the point where re-sanding joints will help and indicates a partial lift-and-relay is needed.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Campbell properties, Master Halco part replacement breaks into three tiers: edge restraint stake replacement or Channel-Drain grate swap ($250-$450), partial edge course rebuild with new bedding sand ($600-$1,100), and full section lift with base repair ($1,200-$1,800). These figures include parts, labor, compaction with a plate compactor, and polymeric joint sand. The wide range reflects access difficulty - a driveway bordered by a stucco wall on one side and a root-laden oak on the other takes longer than an open front apron.

Under Clause 1 of the Haven Standard, you receive a written price before we unload tools. The quote specifies OEM or aftermarket, line-item labor hours, and material counts. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship; manufacturer defects on the part itself are handled through Master Halco’s warranty channel, which we facilitate. Every visit produces a documented photo record showing before condition, exposed substrate, and finished work - included, not optional.

There’s no high-tension danger in paver work, but there is a common mistake that wastes money: lifting pavers without marking their orientation and pattern position. We’ve been called to three Campbell jobs this year where a homeowner relayed the field successfully but created a visual discontinuity at the soldier course that couldn’t be corrected without buying new matching pavers - a $400-$800 error on discontinued color lots.

What you can safely check: pull a Channel-Drain grate and look for silt buildup; probe the edge restraint with a screwdriver to feel if stakes are loose; photograph any stamped part numbers before they weather further. What goes wrong in DIY: inadequate base compaction (a plate compactor rents for $80/day but requires technique), wrong joint sand type (polymeric vs. mason’s sand is not interchangeable), and failure to check slope with a laser level - Campbell’s municipal code requires 1% minimum grade away from structures, and inspectors do measure.
