If your addition was built between 2008 and 2018, check for the older “Cambria Natural Quartz Surface” label rather than the current “Cambria USA” branding, the resin formulation changed slightly in 2019 and earlier slabs may show more UV fading near west-facing windows common in the Campbell foothills.

Signs Your Cambria Home Additions & ADU Is Failing

• Water rings or staining that penetrate rather than bead. Cambria is non-porous, so persistent staining indicates microfractures in the resin matrix, usually from impact damage or prolonged heat exposure, a hot pan left on a trivet that failed, or a toaster oven too close to the backsplash.
• Chipping at exposed edges, particularly on overhangs beyond 10 inches. Without proper substrate or corbel support, Cambria’s brittleness shows at the cantilever. We corrected this last month on a Campbell ADU where the original installer had skipped the plywood sub-top.

Where DIY goes wrong is in the cutout, Cambria requires diamond wet blades, continuous water cooling, and vacuum-supported routing to prevent blowout at corners.
